Abstract

This article is devoted to throw light on the ways  euphemisms are created  in English and Arabic. The model of analysis will be presented and explained . It is hypothesized that English and Arabic are likely to show a considerable difference in using linguistic devices of euphemism. Arabic is likely to use the linguistic technique of semantic innovation (figurative language) in euphemism more than English does. An extended model is suggested and a dictionary of euphemisms in Arabic is recommended to edit euphemistic expressions in Arabic.
